Latin Cuisine Scene

Puerto Rican cuisine is a delectable blend of Spanish, African and Taino influences. There are some impossible to resist dishes that I always have to have when I am there. At the top of my list is mofongo. A mouthwatering blend of mashed plantains, garlic, cilantro and chicharrones. Topped with pork, beef, chicken or shrimp and served in a bowl. Aye pero que rico! If you are in Condado and want to try some for yourself, I recommend Eter Rooftop & Lounge. In addition to some phenomenal mofongo, you can enjoy a breathtaking views of Condado while you sit poolside. Yes, there’s a pool on the rooftop.

Some other favorites of mine are the local street foods such as empanadas, alcapurrias, and bacalaitos. These delicious bites are the perfect grab and go while shopping in Old San Juan. You can find a plethora of yumminess in the cuchifrito carts in front of the historic spanish fort, El Morro. I encourage you to grab a small treat to hold you over till dinner. Need to cool off? Stop by the piragua stand. Here you can grab shaved ice. Pick from multiple flavors. I always choose tamarindo. So refreshing!
